Alexandra of Denmark

Born Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia, Princess of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Became Princess of Denmark in 1853 when her father ascended to the Danish throne. Called Alix by her family.

Daughter of Christian IX. King of Denmark (1818-1906) and Luise, Landgräfin von Hessen-Kassel (1817-1898).

Born: Amalienborg, Kopenhagen 1. Dec 1844

Married: St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle 10. Mar 1863 Edward Prince of Wales, later Edward VII. King of the United Kingdom (1841-1910), son of Albert, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1819-1861) and Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom (1819-1901)

Issue:

Died: Sandringham House, Norfolk 20. Nov 1925 after a heart attack

Buried: St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle
