Christian VII. of Denmark and Norway

Christian VII. King of Denmark and Norway, succeeded his father in 1766. His son Frederick VI. ruled as prince regent from 1784 onwards.

Son of Frederik V. King of Denmark and Norway (1723-1766) and his first wife Princess Louisa of Great Britain and Ireland (1724-1751).

Born: Christiansborg Palace, Copenhagen 29. Jan 1749

Married: Christiansborg Palace, Copenhagen 8. Nov 1766 (div. 1772) Princess Caroline Matilda of Great Britain and Ireland (1751-1775), his first cousin, daughter of Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-1751) and his wife Augusta, Princess of Saxe-Gotha (1719-1772).

Issue:

The father of Princess Louise Augusta was most likely King Christian's German physician, Johann Friedrich Struensee (1737-1772).

Died: Redensburg, Schleswig 13. Mar 1808 from a brain aneurysm

Buried: Roskilde Cathedral (Roskilde Domkirke), Roskilde
