Prince George, Duke of Cambridge

Born Prince George William Frederick Charles of Cambridge, succeeded his father as Duke of Cambridge in 1850.

Son of Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge (1774-1850) and his wife Auguste, Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel (1797-1889).

Married: (in contravention of the Royal Marriages Act) St. John’s Church, Clerkenwell, London 8. Jan 1847 Sarah Fairbrother (1816-1890), an actress, daughter of John Fairbrother and Mary Tucker. After her marriage she was known as “Mrs. FitzGeorge”.

Issue:

Died: Gloucester House, London 17. Mar 1904 from a haemorrhage of the stomach.
