Ernst August of Hanover

Born Ernst August Wilhelm Adolph Georg Friedrich, Prince of Hanover, Prince of Great Britain and Ireland, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg; became Crown Prince of Hanover upon the death of his grandfather, King Ernst August I. The kingdom was annexed by Prussia in 1866 and the family was exiled. Ernst August succeeded his father, King Georg V of Hanover, as Duke of Cumberland in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1878. He renounced his succession rights to Brunswick in favor of his son in 1913.

Buried: Mausoleum, Schloss Cumberland, Gmunden
