Friedrich II. Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, succeeded his father in 1760.

Son of Wilhelm VIII. Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel (1682-1760) and Dorothea Wilhelmine, Princess of Saxe-Zeitz (1691-1743).

Born: Kassel, Hesse 14. Aug 1720

Married:

1.    Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, London 8. May 1740 (by proxy) and Kassel 28. May 1740 Princess Mary of Great Britain and Ireland (1723-1772), daughter of George II. King of Great Britain and Ireland (1683-1760) and his wife Caroline Markgravine of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1683-1737).

2.    Berlin 10. Jan 1773 Philippine, Princess of Brandenburg-Schwedt (1745-1800), daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm, Markgrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt (1700-1771) and his wife Sophie Dorothea, Princess of Prussia (1719-1765).

• Friedrich, Prince of Hesse-Kassel (1747-1837) m. 1786 Caroline, Princess of Nassau-Usingen (1762-1823)
