Umberto II of Italy

Born Umberto Nicola Tommaso Giovanni Maria, Crown Prince of Italy, Principe di Piemonte. Named for his grandfathers King Umberto I of Italy and Nikola I of Montenegro. Became King of Italy from his father’s abdication in May 1946 until he left the country in June 1946.

Son of Vittorio Emanuele III King of Italy (1869-1947) and Elena Princess of Montenegro (1873-1952)

Married: Rome 8. Jan 1930 Marie-José, Princess of Belgium (1906-2001), daughter of Albert I King of the Belgians (1875-1934) and Elisabeth Duchess in Bavaria (1876-1965)
