Son of Georg, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1779-1860) and Marie, Princess of Hesse-Kassel (1796-1880)

Born: Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg 17. Oct 1819

Married: Buckingham Palace, London 28. Jun 1843 Princess Augusta of Cambridge (1822-1916), his first cousin, daughter of Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge (1774-1850) and his wife Auguste, Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel (1797-1889).
