Ivan VI of Russia

Born Ivan Antonovich Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel; he was adopted by his great-aunt Anna Empress of All the Russians shortly after his birth and succeeded her as an infant. Within a year he was overthrown by his second cousin once removed, Empress Yelisavyeta, and spent the rest of his life imprisoned.

Son of Anton Ulrich Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1714-1774) and Elisabeth (Anna Leopoldovna) Princess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1718-1746)

Died: Shlisselburg (Schlüsselburg) Fortress 5. Jul 1764, murdered by his jailors

Buried: Probably at Shlisselburg
