Sofya Alekseyevna Tsarevna of Russia.

Daughter of Aleksey I Mikhailovich, Tsar of All Russia (1629-1676) by his first wife Maria Ilinichna Miloslavskaya (1625-1669)

Born: Moscow 27. Sep 1657

Became regent for her brothers Ivan and Pyotr in 1682-1689. When she tried to secure power for herself her brother Ivan she was forced by their half-brother Pyotr to take the veil and live in a convent, where she took the name “Susanna”.

Died: Novodevichy Monastyr (New Maidens’ Monastery, Moscow  14. Jul 1704

Buried: Arkhangelsky Sobor (Cathedral of the Archangel), Moscow
