Born Lady Cecilia Letitia Gore. Assumed the name Lady Cecilia Underwood (her mother’s maiden name) after her marriage to the Duke of Sussex. Created Duchess of Inverness in 1840.
Daughter of Arthur Gore, 2nd Earl of Arran (1734-1809) and his third wife Elizabeth Underwood.
