William IV. of the United Kingdom

Born Prince William Henry of Great Britain and Ireland. Styled Duke of Clarence and St. Andrews in 1789. Succeded his brother George IV as King of the United Kingdom and King of Hanover in 1830.

Son of George III. King of Great Britain and Ireland  (since 1801 King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland) (1738-1820) and his wife Sophie Charlotte, Princess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818)

Born: Buckingham House, London 21. Aug 1765

Baptised: St. James’s Palace, London 20. Sep 1765

  • Prince Henry, Duke of Cumberland, his paternal uncle

  • Princess Augusta of the United Kingdom (later Duchess of Brunswick), his paternal aunt

Married: Kew Palace 11. Jul 1818 Adelheid, Princess of Saxe-Meiningen (1792-1849), daughter of Georg I. Duke of Saxe-Meiningen (1761-1803) and his wife Luise Eleonore, Princess of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1763-1837)
